The therapeutic efficacy of Flubendazole, a new anthelmintic drug, in the treatment of Enterobius vermicularis infection was evaluated in a study including 201 school and institution children aged 6-12 years.
Sixty-three children infected with E. vermicularis were given a single oral dose of 500mg tablet of flubendazole.
A modification of the Graham¢¥s scotch tape swab test were evaluated both before and 28 days (4 weeks) after treatment for the presence of eggs.
After flubendazole treatment revealed cure rate of 98.4% in 63 enterobiasis children. No significant adverse clinical reactions were noted.
It is found in the present study that flubendazole appears to be effective and safe in the treatment of enterobiasis.
